Our Story!

Hey fellow commuter, my name is Velmer, but you can call me Jr if you’d like. I live in Oregon with my amazing girlfriend Samantha. We met as caregivers in Klamath Falls, Oregon and quickly realized we wanted more opportunity to grow, so we decided to move further north. We fell in love with the PNW and even got a job working at an Amazon warehouse. The commute to PDX5 (the Amazon warehouse) came with new challenges everyday and wasn’t sustainable, we eventually got fired! Luckily we did work Instacart as a side gig, and it was great at keeping us financially stable at the time. Eventually, we even started working Amazon Flex shifts; where you can deliver packages and make money using your own car! We love doing the service and deliver so much, we feel we’re on our way to become the new Mr. and Mrs. Claus! One evening I had just dropped off a package, and as I drove across the intersection to drop off the next. A car had slammed right into Samantha's passenger side of the vehicle, totaling our "sleigh" (car). It all happened very quickly and we were shocked! We went through months of chiropractic treatment to ensure minor injuries. Near the end of our treatment, I had realized my neck had pain that was not getting better and actually felt worse. It even caused me to get frequent headaches. After trial, error, and great observation my chiropractor came to the resolution that the problem was a result of the position my driver's seat was in. He informed that when driving, the seats’ position forced my head forward and created more weight on my neck than necessary. With the amount of driving I do, this led to a chronic pain in my neck. After explaining the situation to me, my chiropractor even helped me adjust my seat to lean back. With just one day of driving in this position, I noticed my neck wasn’t in pain. I also learned that when driving, it’s important to “listen” to your body and adjust your position as needed. I even got a car seat headrest to help support my neck muscles and further assist in keeping my posture correct while driving. I created Pave A Way to help other drivers understand the effects driving has on their body and to keep commuters safe on the road!
